AAUP-KSU is the kent State University chapter of the American Association of University Teachers. At the national level, the AAUP is known for its work in favour of positive academic values and common governance, as well as for the protection of the faculty from violations of mandate and academic freedom. AAUP-KSU shares these interests and also acts as a collective agreement representative for all full-time faculties at Kent State University. Founded for the first time in 1978, there has been an AAUP chapter in Kent State for forty (40) years. Kent State`s board of trustees unanimously approved the agreement on Wednesday, June 26, according to a press release. The union approved it in a vote from June 5 to 9. Kent State will also provide each employee with a one-time signing bonus of $400. If an employee has a perfect participation in a term, with exceptions for absenteeism due to illness, the university will give them a $50 bonus. The collective agreement is located in the Kent State Chapter of the American Association of University Teachers, which represents the faculty of the university and tenure-track. Under the agreement, the faculty in the union received 2% pay increases, retroactive to August 19, 2018, he said in the press release.
