4. Implementation of best practices – CAAFI provides tools and best practices for assessing the availability of raw materials and fuels and their potential economic, social and environmental benefits. CAAFI`s objective is to promote the development, evaluation and commercialization of drop-in alternative options, which offer an equivalent level of security and compare favourably with the costs of petroleum-based jet fuel, while providing environmental improvements and aviation energy security. 3. Expanding the US-SAF offer by targeting efforts to enable commercial supply – CAAFI will focus on real implementation by supporting the development of raw materials and fuel projects, fostering engagement between producers and buyers, leading to taketake agreements, and building on federal, regional and regional supply chain efforts. CAAFI also aims to launch activities related to the development of supply chains, including the use of public-private partnerships, as well as the use of activities funded by its sponsors and various partner public agencies. CAAFI is a coalition of U.S. airlines, airports, aircraft and engines, energy producers, researchers, NGOs, international participants and U.S. government agencies working to improve aviation energy security and environmental sustainability by examining and facilitating the use of landing aviation fuels (SAFs).
CAAFI serves primarily as a means of exchanging information and coordinating stakeholder efforts. This includes the development of communication tools to assess the availability of alternative fuels, the holding of technical workshops, contact with national and international aviation, energy and financial industry forums and communication with the news media. CAAFI members encourage the development of SAF by taking four focused teams, under the direction of an administrative management team, with the advice and approval of an industry steering group. Teams include: 2. Improved carbon qualification approach – CAAFI will promote a widely supported and optimized certification/qualification program and a more sustainable process with a higher capacity to cope with the significant queue of potential FAS candidates. 1. Communication of SAF`s Value Promise – CAAFI will communicate the economic, social and environmental benefits of FAS to the federal government, national and local governments, regional institutions, non-governmental organizations, the private sector and the public, in order to broaden the base of stakeholders supporting FAS.
